Chancery Updates

  • The Peter’s Pence collection date is suggested to be the Sunday nearest the Feast of Ss. Peter and Paul (June 29), so this year means the weekend of June 25-26.
  • A reminder as summer travel season begins, please review your Mass time schedule to make sure it is current on the diocesan website. Please send any changes to Brianna at bwingen@sfcatholic.org.
  • Please review information about the upcoming Necrology report below. A significant change has been made to the due date and dates included in the Necrology.
  • The diocesan Human Resources Office has recently implemented a hiring platform to help diocesan offices, parishes and schools better advertise their job openings and allow us to recruit more broadly. A nominal fee of $50.00 is being charged which places the opening on the Diocesan Job Board at such recruiting sites as “Keloland Employment,” “Indeed,” “Monster,” “Google,” and “Zip Recruiter.”

If you know of anyone seeking to work in an environment where their Catholic faith plays an integral role in their job, please direct them to the Diocesan Job Board at https://sfcatholic.hireclick.com/jobboard/

Diocesan entities interested in posting a job opening on the Diocesan Job Board should contact Renee Leach at (605)988-3752 or via email at rleach@sfcatholic.org for more information.

Necrology needed for 2021-2022

Each year in the November issue of the Bishop’s Bulletin, we feature a complete listing of those of our diocesan family who have died during the past year. We need your assistance in compiling that list.

Please check your records and list the names of all members of your parish(es)/community who have died on or after October 1, 2021, through those who have died on or before August 31, 2022, in a Word document or email.

Please note the deadline to be included has changed from September 30 to August 31. This is due to the deadline changes with our new printer which requires content to them approximately six weeks prior to mailing.

Please list (per parish/religious community)

  • Names of the dead, first then last name (no nicknames, only proper names, like Helen Jones, not Mrs. Johnny Jones, or Jones, Helen). Middle name/initial is not needed, and will not be included in the final report.
  • Date of his/her death in chronological order. Day of the week is not needed.
  • For example your report should look like this: Helen Jones- Oct. 24; Jim Smith- Nov. 18; Carol Nelson- Jan. 17

Please respond even if your parish/community has recorded no deaths in this time period. Simply state “no deaths.”

Please send your report in a Word document or type it directly into the email so it can be easily copied and formatted for the Bishop’s Bulletin, and indicate your parish(es)/community in the email subject line.

Begin sending your information after August 31, reports will not be accepted before August 31. The deadline to be included in the Necrology is September 12.

Brianna will respond to your email when she has received it. If you don’t hear from her, she did not get it.

Please email Brianna Wingen at bwingen@sfcatholic.org or mail to Bishop’s Bulletin Necrology, 523 N. Duluth Ave., Sioux Falls, SD 57104 with your completed Necrology report.

Thank you for your help with getting this report compiled. If you have any questions, call Brianna at 605-988-3789 or email at bwingen@sfcatholic.org.

ENCOUNTER MINISTRIES MISSION: Drawing from the richness of our Catholic heritage and identity, we seek to teach, equip, activate and deploy disciples to be able to demonstrate the supernatural power and love of the kingdom of God in their spheres of influence.

The Encounter Summer Intensive is a powerful experience that helps bridge the gap between the supernatural lifestyle of Jesus and the everyday experience of many believers. Focusing on topics from the first four quarters of Encounter School of Ministry, participants get a taste of the joy, transformation, and renewal that is at the heart of Encounter’s mission! Topics include Identity & Transformation, Hearing God’s Voice & Prophecy, Power & Physical Healing, and Inner Healing.

To register please visit the Encounter School – Aberdeen webpage. Contact Tammy for more information (encounterschoolaberdeen@gmail.com or 605-941-9955).

Having met in college at a Bible camp, camping ministry has always had a special place in their hearts. They currently live in Colorado with their five children and have been married 27 years. Sean brings a variety of ministry experiences, and they both look forward to sharing with you how God has been working in and through their lives.
