Catholic Family Sharing Appeal update

Thank you for your continued support and prayers for 2020 Catholic Family Sharing Appeal, “One Faith. One Family.” Because of the generosity of the faithful, we are able to make an impact in the lives of thousands of our diocesan brothers and sisters. The enthusiastic response of so many is a wonderful testament to how we reach out to others and share our God-given gifts.

As of November 25, we have processed 13,512 pledge cards totaling $4,252,000. Nearly half of the parishes have raised over and above the amount shared with the diocese. In total, an additional $409,468 will stay in the respective parish and be used where the need is greatest.

Thank you again for all of your continued support of Catholic Family Sharing Appeal. May God bless you and those you love during this Advent Season.

Please send in any new pledge cards to the Catholic Family Sharing Appeal office. Even if your parish has paid off the 2020 share, pledge cards need to be submitted by December 31 to ensure we have accurate information to acknowledge each individual’s gift.

With the move of Melinda North to the Office of the Bishop, please know we have transitioned those to support you in the Office of Catholic Family Sharing Appeal, and we are here to help you in any way we can to ensure the success of your local appeal. Parish year-end payroll tax reporting

The Diocesan Finance Office would like to offer year-end payroll tax reporting help.

If you would like the Finance Office to process your year-end 941, W2’s, W’3s, 1099’s and 1096 please let us know. This is a very reasonable fee-based service: $50 for up to 25 forms and $2.50 per form after that, which includes the price of the forms.

Helpful hint:
To get prepared for YE 1099 processing, start looking at your vendor reports now, and by December 10 send out any W9’s to vendors who have provided you with a service to verify if they are incorporated or not. When you get a form back from a vendor, if they are incorporated, notate that somewhere in your vendor name so as you review your vendors this year and going forward you know right away that they are incorporated and you don’t have to worry about them. Then as you hire new vendors for service work, ask them to fill out a W9 before they even start the work, making year-end processing easier. Examples (not all inclusive) of vendors who need to have a 1099 sent if they are not incorporated: visiting clergy, plumbers, electricians, handymen, carpenters, lawn care services, snow removal services, window washers, cleaning services, HVAC services, speakers you bring in for conferences (you also need to pay use tax for speakers if they do not invoice you the sales tax), musicians, organ/piano repair services, remodeling services, architects, lawyers, construction companies. As a note, if a vendor sells you a product then also installs it, that is considered a service, and you need to send a 1099 to them if they are not incorporated.

Bulletin Announcements | Christmas at the Cathedral Update

For Immediate Release in your Parish Bulletin

The 24th Annual Christmas at the Cathedral goes Virtual!

The live productions of the 24th Annual Christmas at the Cathedral have been canceled due to the rising numbers of COVID cases, hospitalizations, and deaths in our state. However, you can still experience Christmas at the Cathedral in the safety of your home with your loved ones near (or far). A special pre-recorded production of Christmas at the Cathedral will air on KELOLAND Television on December 25 at 6:30 p.m. This special production, “That’s My God,” will feature new stories and interviews highlighting the celebration of God’s incarnation into our human condition during times of uncertainty and crisis, much like we are experiencing today.

All proceeds from this year’s production will benefit the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House and Cathedral of Saint Joseph endowments.

If you would like more information about how you can secure a virtual code to enjoy a special production of “That’s My God” at your home or business before December 25, please call our office at 605-988-3765 or email events@ccfesd.org.
