Confirmation Retreat in Watertown – January 2024
Holy Name Parish in Watertown has partnered with us to offer a Confirmation retreat Saturday, January 27, 2024 that will be open to any youth in the diocese in need of a Confirmation Retreat. Registration for this retreat is now open and can be found on our Confirmation webpage  or on our For Parish Leaders webpage.

As a reminder, every parish sending youth to this retreat must also send Safe Environment compliant adults to assist with small group facilitation. There is a specific (free) ticket type for them on the registration page.

D-Camp 2024
Discipleship Camp is a transformative experience for the youth in the Diocese of Sioux Falls. It is designed to help teens deepen their prayer life, grow in their understanding of who God is, and meet other teens who are engaged in their faith from throughout the Diocese.

With the help of Lumen Christi missionaries who are committed to helping teens encounter Jesus, D-Camp makes faith come alive to hundreds of young people each summer. Through small groups, powerful testimonies, and daily opportunities to receive the sacraments, D-Camp is more than just a fun event. It is a moment in a young person’s life when they step further into following God.

Invite the youth in your life to mark the dates above on their calendars and start planning for a summer to remember.

Space is limited, and these sessions will fill up quickly! By registering early, your youth can secure their spot at the D-Camp of their choice and make this summer unforgettable. Find all the information or register on the D-Camp webpage.

Lumen Christi Summer 2024 Team Requests Are Open
We are excited to announce that we have opened up requests for Lumen Christi teams for the summer of 2024.  To learn more about Lumen Christi and how to request a team for your parish next summer please visit the Lumen Christi webpage.  Once you have submitted your request, we will do our best to accommodate your preferences. You will receive a confirmation email as soon as the 2024 Lumen Christi Calendar has been finalized. This probably will not be until February or March 2024 as we will not know how many missionaries we will have to form teams until they have been hired. We apologize for that delay and any inconvenience that may cause.

Lumen Christi Recruiting
The recruiting season for Lumen Christi Summer 2024 is now open! We are looking for passionate and dedicated college-aged young adults who have a burning desire to share their faith with youth throughout our diocese. If you know someone from your pastorate who has a deep desire to evangelize and catechize, we invite you to encourage him/her to apply to be a missionary. For more information, please visit the Lumen Christi webpage.

School of Missionary Discipleship for ADULTS – New Cohort Begins January
The School of Missionary Discipleship will be launching a 12 week course on Prayer: Fall in Love, Stay in Love and Let Love Make All the Difference, this coming January and registrations are open now!  This course is a prerequisite for any future courses in the School of Missionary Discipleship and is only offered every couple of years.

This course will consist of formation in Christian prayer and virtue which will provide a great foundation to help those new to personal prayer, as well as those well experienced in personal prayer, to enter more deeply into their daily relationship with God.

The course design is a series of weekly videos in conjunction with Q/A sessions and small group meetings via Zoom on Thursday evenings. For more information about the school and to enroll today, please visit the School of Missionary Discipleship webpage.

Discount Tickets Available for National Eucharistic Congress
The diocese has tickets for the National Eucharistic Congress at a greatly reduced rate! Save $175 when you purchase through the diocese. These tickets are for anyone in the Sioux Falls Diocese and are first come – first served. To claim your ticket, go to sfcatholic.org/eucharist.

In addition, the USCCB is encouraging every parish to send a team of representatives to the National Eucharistic Congress next summer. They will be commissioned as Eucharistic Missionaries to bring the joy and love of the Eucharist back to your parish and community.

Eucharistic Revival – Small Group Resources
During the year of the parish, the USCCB is encouraging each parish to host small groups using their new seven week study, Jesus and the Eucharist. They have made it so easy! There is an online training for planning the small group, parish implementation and table facilitators. They give you the curriculum, videos, slide show presentations, handouts and more.

If you are interested, please connect with your Eucharistic Revival Parish Point Person or check out the resource webpage for more information.

Eucharistic Revival – Adoration Night Planning Guide
The USCCB has just released their Encounter Nights Guide. The guide includes a suggested template for a special holy hour for Revival, a list of liturgical items needed, and prayers. This guide is your detailed roadmap to plan and lead transformative evenings of eucharistic adoration that resonate deeply with your congregation.

Eucharistic Revival Media Kit for Parish Bulletins – USCCB
From the USCCB: Shawna Hanson from the Diocese of Rapid City has created and shared a weekly Eucharistic Revival media kit of bulletin inserts for use in any parish. Each week is given in four formats: simple text (word document), small graphic bulletin announcement, slide and social media square. It includes weekly content through May of 2024. This is a simple yet powerful way to promote Eucharistic Revival in your parish. If you are interested in using it in your parish, please share the link with your staff.

Weekly “Power Hour” for Formation Leaders – Tuesdays at 1 p.m.
Each week during the academic year we hold a zoom call for Parish Catechetical Leaders (PCL) from around our diocese. The goal is to offer an opportunity for growth in both spiritual and professional development and to have a space to bounce ideas off one another and inspire and encourage one another in our shared mission. Power Hours are held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays. Zoom invitations are sent to the PCL email list weekly.

PCL Email List
If you are new or newly diving into our offerings, we invite you to join the PCL email list. You can sign up on the diocesan For Parish Leaders webpage.

  • Are you an RCIA instructor who knows someone with a compelling conversion story? Or do you just know someone whose faith story really resonates with others? If you do and you think they might be interested in telling their story in the Bishop’s Bulletin or on the Catholic Views podcast, please share their name! Check with them first to make sure they’re okay with being considered for an interview. Then email me (Renae) at rkranz@sfcatholic.org with your thoughts and their contact information.

Christmas at the Cathedral
The Heavens Declare!

December 14-17, 2023

2023 Christmas at the Cathedral Bulletin Announcement

The 27th annual Christmas at The Cathedral will be performed with six concerts, December 14-17, 2023 at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph. This year’s theme, “The Heavens Declare,” is a first-hand account of the monumental events surrounding Jesus’ birth and his miraculous mission and impact through the experience of one of the magi.

This inspiring production features actor Mark Christopher Lawrence, best known for his role as Big Mike on the NBC series Chuck. He has also made guest appearances on many television programs and movies. The script will come alive through the inspiring musical compositions and arrangements of Christmas at the Cathedral Music Director and Conductor, Dan Goeller, and our featured soloists, Nashville recording artists Shelley Jennings and Carlos Santiago, along with the Christmas at the Cathedral Orchestra and Choir.

In addition to being an inspiring Christmas experience, Christmas at the Cathedral supports the poor and vulnerable in our midst through endowments for the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House, as well as the ongoing care of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, one of the region’s most significant civic and sacred landmarks. Christmas is not just an historical event or celebration, it is something that happens within each of us every moment of every day. We look forward to sharing with you the hope and joy of God’s Incarnation during the 27th annual Christmas at the Cathedral,
The Heavens Declare!
