Friends Don’t Let Friends Use Windows 7

If you’re still running Windows 7, it’s past time to upgrade to a newer version of Windows.

Windows 7 is no longer supported as of January 14, 2020, which means you are no longer receiving updates, the most important of which are security updates.
This means as more security holes are found in Windows 7, they won’t be patched, resulting in your computer becoming a greater and greater security risk as time goes on.
If you’re unsure what version you’re running, the easiest way to find out is to run the “winver” command (Short for Windows Version).
To do this, open a run box by pressing the Windows key on the keyboard and the R key together. In the text field of the run box erase anything that’s in there, and type winver, and press enter.
A window will pop up that has the version of Windows you’re running. If this box says XP, Vista, 7, or 8 (not 8.1 but 8), then you need to upgrade to a newer version of Windows.
If you’re running an older version, please give us a call and we can talk about what the best option for upgrading will be.

Catholic Family Sharing Appeal

Thank you for your continued support and prayers for 2021 Catholic Family Sharing Appeal – “One Faith. One Family.” Because of the generosity of the faithful, we are able to make an impact in the lives of thousands of our diocesan brothers and sisters. The enthusiastic response of so many is a wonderful testament of how we reach out to others and share our God-given gifts.

As of November 25, we have received 13,726 pledge cards totaling $4,893.000. Over 2/3 of the parishes have raised over and above the amount shared with the diocese. In total, an additional $859,000 will stay in the respective parish and be used where the need is greatest.

Thank you again for all of your continued support of Catholic Family Sharing Appeal. May God bless you and those you love during this Advent Season.

Parish News

Geddes Rectory Available for Senior Priest
The rectory at St. Ann Parish in Geddes has served as a wonderful home for a retired priest. With Father Geditz’s recent transition to Aberdeen, Father Tom Clement has offered to make the rectory available once again to any retired priest who would be interested to live there. Priests interested in exploring this option should contact Father Clement at the St. Peter Parish in Platte. The terms for rent are negotiable. Reflective of the love the good people of Geddes hold for priests, they will be generous for any priest who chooses to live in the rectory.

School of Missionary Discipleship
The School of Missionary Discipleship will be launching in January of 2022. It is designed to form lay men and women as missionary disciples, empowering them to deepen their own faith in Jesus Christ and to share him and his teachings with others.

There will be a variety of offerings made through the School, but the heart of it is the Formation Program in which participants are deeply formed in their ability to engage in the work of the New Evangelization: to live and share their faith in Jesus Christ with those they encounter in their daily lives, according to the gifts that God has given them.

The Formation Program is attentive to all four areas of discipleship formation: a thorough knowledge of Church teaching (intellectual formation); a deep personal prayer life (spiritual formation); an ability to interact with and accompany others (human formation); and a recognition of the personal call and empowerment to build up God’s kingdom (apostolic formation).

All areas of formation will be engaged throughout the multi-year program. Each year will have a specific focus of formation.

      1. Learning How to Pray and How to Teach Others to Pray – A year-long (two semester) exploration of how to grow deeply in prayer.
      2. Sacred Scripture and Church History – An overview of the story of salvation from creation to today.
      3. The Catechism of the Catholic Church – An exploration of Church teaching.
      4. Sharing your Faith – A practical introduction to talking with others about our faith.

For more information about the school, please visit the School of Missionary Discipleship webpage.
