What’s happening with Set Ablaze?

An update for PARISH STAFF regarding the Set Ablaze Pastoral Planning Initiative

  • Pastors are currently going through an in-service to learn about the pastoral planning process to be undertaken, review the Pastor Handbook (full of resources, a guide for pastoral planning, and details about the process, parameters and goals of Set Ablaze), and build a fuller understanding of how to develop missionary disciples in their pastorates.
  • Facilitators, whose job it will be to assist pastors and pastorates early in the pastoral planning process, have been selected and will be going through training in early June to prepare them for their work. These men and women of the diocese will help guide conversations during town hall and committee meetings and help support pastors.
  • The most important thing being asked of you right now is to pray for the success of the Set Ablaze initiative and pastoral planning in our diocese. This is indeed the most powerful role we all have as Catholics!
  • The next most important thing being asked of you right now is to assist your current parish pastor in preparing the turnover file for the incoming pastor (if he requests assistance).
  • One additional role parish staff can play is to gain as much understanding as they can about Set Ablaze so they can answer questions and provide a calm presence for others on this topic. The best way to do this is to review the many resources available at setablazesf.org (especially the FAQs), communicate questions or concerns with your pastor, or contact the Chancery with questions.
  • Once the new pastors arrive in their pastorates on July 5, a Pastoral Planning Committee will be assembled by the pastor and meetings will be scheduled to begin the work of pastoral planning.

It is critical at this stage to continue communicating with the laity in our diocese about Set Ablaze. Please use the flyer below in your Sunday bulletins to keep everyone informed. And thank you all so much for your service to your parishes and to our Lord! Please contact Renae Kranz with any questions, rkranz@sfcatholic.org.

Seven Sisters Apostolate

Seven Sisters Apostolate – Lifting our priests in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament

The new Set Ablaze pastoral planning initiative will bring many changes to our diocese. We can provide powerful support to our priests and parishioners by our prayers.

If you’d like to begin a Seven Sisters Apostolate at your parish, you just need seven women, one hour each, once a week. Your priest or associate receives a holy hour every day, lifted up before the Blessed Sacrament.

For more information, visit the national website: sevensistersapostolate.org  or contact Kathy Kooima, SevenSistersSiouxFalls@gmail.com or 605-376-4688.
