Catholic School Job Posting: Principal

Immaculate Conception School in Watertown, SD seeks a talented, faithful, and dynamic individual to serve as its principal beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year.  This is an excellent opportunity to expand on the school’s recent efforts to create an endowment to support teacher salaries and its recent recognition as a National Blue Ribbon School.

Immaculate Conception School offers a Junior Kindergarten through 6th grade in a single section model.  It serves 185 students.  The school is vital to the evangelizing mission of Immaculate Conception and Holy Name of Jesus Parishes.  It strives to provide an education that is authentically Catholic:  a formation of the whole person in the light of Jesus Christ.  The school stands at a graced moment in its history with a unique opportunity to grow its student enrollment and expand its grade offering.

Therefore, Immaculate Conception School seeks an individual who will successfully cultivate a joyful, Catholic culture supporting families in the formation of their children’s holiness, virtue, and habitual use of reason.  However, “(t)he project of the Catholic school is convincing only if carried out by people who are deeply motivated, because they witness to a living encounter with Christ” (Cong. for Catholic Education, 1997).

Interested applicants are encouraged to send a cover letter and CV/resume to hr@icschoolwatertown.orgApplications are requested before close of business on April 4, 2022.

Synod on Synodality Update:

Thank you to everyone who helped promote awareness of the Diocesan Survey for the Synod.  As of Feb. 28 we received over 3,400 online responses!

Written Responses:  We ask that every parish who has received written responses do their best to have volunteers take those responses and “digitize” them.  This can be done simply by going to sfcatholic.org/synod, clicking on the take the survey link, and completing an online survey with the responses given in the written survey.  The written survey can then be discarded. The link will remain active until March 7.

If you have any remaining “un-digitized” written survey responses after March 7, please collect them and send them to the Chancery-  523 N. Duluth Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104   Attn: Survey Results as soon as possible.  Thanks!

By the beginning of April we will start to have results to share from the survey and will put them out on our various communication channels.  We are planning 12 months of more “in-depth” reporting on the survey, in an effort to share as much information as possible in a way that is helpful and accessible to as many people as possible.

Children meet weekly in a specially prepared environment called an atrium. In the atrium adult catechists present materials to children, either individually or in a small group allowing them to work with and meditate on scripture, liturgy and the life of the church.
