Catholic Family Sharing Appeal

Thank you to all for your wonderful support of the 2021 Catholic Family Sharing Appeal. Parishioners have responded with great generosity toward the many ministries supported by the appeal. To date, we have received 13,107 pledges totaling $4,731,000. Over two thirds of the parishes have raised over and above the amount shared with the diocese providing an additional $789,000 to stay in the respective parish and be used where the need is greatest.

If you have remaining pledges to send in, please do so as soon as possible as we prepare for follow-up.

Thank you again for your support as the success of the Catholic Family Sharing Appeal is dependent upon the great efforts of those at all of the parishes throughout the diocese.

Adoption services offered in Diocese of Rapid City

Catholic Social Services (CSS), a widely recognized organization with a 45-year history in the Diocese of Rapid City, is transitioning the family services adoption program to Trinity Pregnancy and Adoption. CSS is committed to building and supporting strong families in South Dakota. CSS has over four decades of experience with the placement of more than 300 children with “forever” families.

Trinity Pregnancy and Adoption is the only accredited agency in South Dakota by the Intercountry Adoption Accreditation and Maintenance Entity (IAAME) organization. IAAME’s purpose is the accreditation, approval, monitoring and oversight of adoption service providers providing intercountry adoption services.

Trinity offers free pregnancy counseling, international adoption resources, monthly support group for foster and adoptive families, and contracted home studies. As Catholic Family Services in the Diocese of Sioux Falls has moved away from adoption services, Trinity will be the Catholic option for adoption services in the state.

Trinity Pregnancy and Adoption will continue to provide thoughtful adoption services through Catholic Social Services. Trinity is available to assist all parties of the adoption triad (birth parents, adoptive parents, and adopted children) across South Dakota.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Providing a healthy and safe environment in our parishes and schools is a ministry to which we are all called. To foster our common diocesan vision of Lifelong Catholic Missionary Discipleship Through God’s Love, the diocese will be marking Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. The weekend of April 24-25, our bishop will celebrate Mass for the healing of victims/survivors and all affected by abuse. Attached is a Rosary for Healing booklet and a Novena for Healing that can be provided to groups (especially prayer groups) in your parish. Media to post on your website or share on social media along with a date for a live streamed Rosary for Healing will be forthcoming. All parishes are encouraged to include an introduction/announcement in their bulletin in the month of April introducing the local coordinator at your parish, school or ministry. Please plan to participate with us in prayer for the safety and wellbeing of all children that they may flourish as healthy, happy, holy Catholics within our communities. Please contact the Safe Environment Coordinator, Alison Conemac (aconemac@sfcatholic.org) with your questions.
