This column is being written during the season of Advent when we wait in joyful expectation for the coming of the Lord. It will be published during the season of Christmas when we joyfully celebrate his coming as man, born in Bethlehem for a purpose accomplished on Calvary. Ours is a faith that has the person of Jesus Christ, God and man, at its center. This is important to recall as we face the missionary challenges of our day including threats to religious freedom, efforts to redefine family and marriage, violence and addiction, along with economic and technological change.
