Shawn Cleary (on the left), newly appointed lieutenant for the Northern Lieutenancy of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre is pictured with Tom Pogge, Omaha, who is the outgoing lieutenant, and has recently been appointed as the vice governor general for North America.
The Northern Lieutenancy consists of the States of Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota with a membership of over 2,000 Knights and Dames. The lieutenant is appointed to lead the efforts of their respective lieutenancy’s to fulfill the mission of the Order. The main charism of the Order is to support the Christians in the Holy Land through prayer, pilgrimages and financial support.
Shawn, and his wife Julie, are members of the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Sioux Falls. They were accepted into the Order in 2007.
