Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls

Consecration of Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Dear brothers and sisters,

At the invitation of Pope Francis, I will join the Holy Father in consecrating Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the Solemnity of the Annunciation, which is Friday, March 25. Pope Francis has invited all bishops of the world and their priests to join him in this act of consecration on the same day and hour, if possible.

You as the lay faithful can take part in this consecration as well by praying the Rosary on the same day along with the prayer of consecration. The consecration will begin in our diocese at 11:30 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph. We will begin by praying the Rosary, making the consecration and then continue with Mass at noon. The consecration and Mass will be live streamed at our diocesan YouTube page. Please visit www.sfcatholic.org for more information and links to the livestream and prayer of consecration.

The consecration of Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is a beautiful act meant to express and deepen our trust in the Mother of God. We have confidence in her providential role in history and ask for her intercession in this time of great need.

Be assured of my constant prayers for you and may the Immaculate Heart of Mary usher a new era of divine peace to our world.
