Mother Teresa Endowment Fund
The Mother Teresa Endowment is a fund established by the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls and Catholic Family Services to provide financial assistance to individuals or couples experiencing an unplanned pregnancy and who have considered abortion because of limited financial resources. Catholic Family Services provides free pregnancy counseling and will work with the birth parents to determine the community resources they are qualified to receive. The Mother Teresa Endowment Fund assists with legitimate costs that are not covered by these community resources.
Expenses the Mother Teresa Endowment fund may cover are: Prenatal clinic costs, hospital and birthing expenses not covered by insurance or Medicaid, temporary rent payments should bed rest during pregnancy be required, maternity clothes, utility bills and other expenses incurred if the birth mother is unable to work.
Procedures to apply for financial assistance:
- Obtain from Catholic Family Services an application form and complete as indicated.
- Return the completed and signed form to Catholic Family Services
- Submit copies of bills related to the request.
- Responses take 3-4 weeks.
Gift of Hope Endowment Fund
The Gift of Hope Endowment supports the work of Catholic Family Services of the Catholic Diocese of Sioux Falls. The Gift of Hope has come to represent what Catholic Family Services strives to accomplish – helping provide hope for those who because of life’s challenges need support. Through outreach services and counseling, Catholic Family Services is providing hope to those suffering from loss, grief, abuse, divorce or other hurts which are making life difficult. The Gift of Hope Endowment provides income to support this ministry to people of all faiths, ages and walks of life across eastern South Dakota. Examples are the many grief support programs that are offered, counseling sessions, Rachel’s Vineyard, and our Divorced Ministries.
The Gift of Hope Endowment was established in 2000 as a part of the 40th anniversary of Catholic Family Services. The Endowment fund is managed by the Catholic Foundation of Eastern South Dakota. Contributions to the Endowment fund are made through Catholic Family Services, and through the annual Gift of Hope benefit.
