Upcoming Events – Rite of Election – February 18

The Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion will occur on the First Sunday of Lent, February 18, 2024 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph at 1:30 pm. As the ritual provides, the ceremony will not take place in the context of Holy Mass.

Please notify Fr Morgan by Wednesday, February 14th as to how many Catechumens and Candidates for reception into full communion of the Catholic Church, and Sponsors will be in attendance. You can send this information to me by mail or email at frjamesmorgan@sfcatholic.org. Even if your Catechumens/Candidates are unable to attend, it is necessary to notify me how many Catechumens you have as this information is needed for the Annual Diocesan Report.

There will be reserved seating for the Catechumens and for the Candidates for reception into full communion of the Catholic Church and their Sponsors. For your information, the Catechumens (those who will be baptized, confirmed, and receive their first Holy Communion) will be seated with their sponsor on the south side (side that Bishop’s chair is on) of the Cathedral and the Candidates will be seated on the north side (ambo side) of the Cathedral.

You are invited to attend with your Candidates and be seated with them as well.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Father Morgan or the Bishop’s Office.
