Office of the Marian Apostolate

Established on July 1, 2009 during the Year for Priests by His Excellency the Most Reverend Paul Joseph Swain, D.D., the Bishop of Sioux Falls, the Office of the Marian Apostolate is to increase awareness of and appreciation and love for the presence of Mary the Mother of God in the Diocese of Sioux Falls.

"My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior." (Saint Luke 1:46)

Upcoming Events

The Office of the Marian Apostolate will host the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary on Thursday, August 2nd at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 15th at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday,

August 22nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Mother's Garden near the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Sioux Falls. All are invited.

Catholics throughout the United States are invited to participate in a 54 Day Rosary Novena entitled “Novena for Our Nation” with the following Intentions: “respect for life at all stages of development; the sanctity of marriage and families; upholding constitutionally protected religious freedom; and the return of our nation to God and Holiness.”

The Novena begins on Wednesday, August 15, 2018—the Solemnity of the Assumption. Pastors and those responsible for the spiritual care of their people may decide whether the Holy Rosary is recited individually or in common.

To conclude the Novena, the Faithful are invited to participate in “The Rosary Coast to Coast” gathering to be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018—the Twenty-seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time (usually the Memorial of Our Lady of the Rosary). This coincides with the National Rosary Rally that will occur the same day in front of the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

Similar gatherings of the Faithful in Poland, Ireland and the United Kingdom have inspired “The Rosary Coast to Coast.”

Pastors and those responsible for the spiritual care of their people may decide the format for this gathering on October 7th. Organizers of the event encourage that the Rosary be recited by the Faithful who live in the Central Time Zone around 3:00 p.m. to correspond with those who live in other places throughout the country.
