The Diocese of Sioux Falls is starting
to make plans for the next edition of Ministry Day, according
to vice chancellor Nancy Werner.
This will be the third year for the event and it is scheduled
for Thursday, August 18.
Last year, the diocese, its clergy, parish and school staffs,
parish ministers and volunteers gathered at the Ramkota Inn
and Convention Center in Sioux Falls for a day of workshops
and speakers and fellowship.
This year, the diocese is again looking to celebrate ministry
in its parishes and among its people during a single day of
activities.
The diocese has yet to announce speakers, an agenda or a location
for Ministry Day 2005 but the event is in the planning stages.
Ministry Day was originally designed to celebrate the diocesan
church, its ministries and to educate clergy, staff and parish
ministers. That mission remains intact as the diocese looks
again to energize and encourage the people of the diocese
who attend.
In the first two versions, the workshops and speakers fill
much of the day with the culmination being the celebration
of the Mass near the end of the day.
Ministry Day is encouraged as a special day for all priests,
school principals, teachers, youth ministers and others involved
in parish work and ministry across the diocese.
The day is an opportunity where people can attend several
different workshops while looking to improve their skills
in different areas.
The goal of the event remains to enhance ministry in the diocese
on all levels.
Ministry Day is a good opportunity to bring clergy, staff
and parishioners together and help them stay up to date on
what is happening and what is in place for diocesan life,
according to several people who attended each of the first
two sessions.
Diocesan vice chancellor Nancy Werner remains the point person
for coordinating the Ministry Day event.
