Another group of hunters from across
the diocese is preparing for the 9th annual Bishop’s
Charity Hunt.
This year’s Bishop’s Charity Hunt will benefit
Broom Tree Youth and Family Camp.
It will be held September 27-28 at Grand Slam Hunts near Kimball.
Last year, close to 100 individuals took to the fields during
the event.
Through the generosity of those who participated, last year’s
hunt raised over $37,000 for Religious Education and the Broom
Tree Youth and Family Camp.
Bishop Robert Carlson has praised the people of the diocese
for supporting the charity events he hosts since the money
raised goes toward diocesan projects that help different groups
or projects.
The charity hunt has helped the diocese step closer to the
dream of seeing the family/youth camp at Broom Tree Farm completed.
“The camp will provide unprecedented facilities for
area youth to experience God’s love and to connect in
meaningful ways with peers and adults who care,” the
bishop has said.
Following the Bishop’s Charity Hunt, there will be two
days for the Bishop’s Youth Hunt.
The first youth hunt date is October 2 for ages 12-15.
It will be held at the Spader family farm near Howard.
Later in the month on October 30, young people 16 and older
will be able to take part in the Bishop’s Youth Hunt
at Broom Tree Farm near Irene.
The Catholic Foundation for Eastern South Dakota coordinates
all the hunt activities including getting sponsors to support
the hunts.
