Presentation sisters speak out on nuclear disarmament

As United States Senators consider a defense authorization bill (S. 2400), the Presentation Sisters are urging them to support the Kennedy-Feinstein amendment which would prohibit the use of funds for new nuclear weapons development.
“The Presentation Sisters adopted a stance 20 years ago opposing the possession of nuclear weapons and asking for nuclear disarmament to all nations,” said Sister Kay O’Neil, Presentation sisters’ social justice team co-chair. “Twenty years later we are still trying to raise consciousness of the devastating effects that continuing to fund nuclear research can bring.”
The Presentation Sisters recently affirmed their 1984 stance on disarmament. In their statement, the Sisters say that, “they are women who value life as a sacred gift of their Creator.”
The Sisters urged their Senators to vote in support of the amendment which cuts funding for nuclear weapons. They ask that you join them in contacting your Senators by calling the toll free Capitol switchboard at 800-839-5276.
