Final plans are being made for this year’s
Ministry Day event for the Diocese of Sioux Falls.
Ministry Day is set for Monday, August 16 at the Ramkota Hotel
and Convention Center.
Registration materials are still available through each parish
or on-line at www.sfcatholic.org. There is also a registration
discount coupon available in this issue of The Bishop’s
Bulletin.
This year Ministry Day is a one day event compared to last year’s
inaugural two-day session.
Members of the organizing committee for Ministry Day say there
will be fewer workshops offered this time around.
The workshops are scheduled in four different rounds so attendees
can get to the sessions they really want to attend and not have
to choose between one session or another.
Ministry Day is an opportunity for people to come together to
experience a day of prayer, education and community building.
This year’s session is also going to explore how the Diocese
of Sioux Falls functions as a rural church and what that means.
“We want to give our teachers and ministers opportunities
for some continuing education that will help them in their work
and spiritual journey,” said vice chancellor Nancy Werner
who is coordinating Ministry Day.
Feedback from the people who attended the first Ministry Day
helped organizers this year in better tailoring the program
to what people said they want and need to make the day valuable
to their ministry and work.
Keynote speakers Randy Parry and Dr. James Beddow will discuss
“community barn raising on the prairies of east river
South Dakota.”
Parry, in an appearance on Catholic Views, the weekly diocesan
radio program outlined how community building is what the diocese
can and should be about.
Ministry Day registration will begins at 8:45 a.m. that day.
The event will conclude with the celebration of the Mass by
Bishop Robert J. Carlson at 4 p.m.
“It is not too late to register,”said Werner.
You can register through your parish, through the diocesan website
at www.sfcatholic.org, by telephoning the diocese at 605-334-9861
or by sending in the registration materials found in The Bishop’s
Bulletin. |
