The Diocese of Sioux Falls will host
a second Ministry Day in August, according to vice chancellor
Nancy Werner.
This year’s event will be held Monday, August 16 at the
Ramkota Inn in Sioux Falls.
Last year, the diocese, its clergy, parish and school staffs,
parish ministers and volunteers gathered over two days at the
O’Gorman campus.
This year’s event will be a one day gathering with workshops,
a talk from Bishop Robert Carlson and more.
The day is designed to celebrate the diocesan church, its ministries
and to educate clergy, staff and parish ministers.
Registration will begin at 8:45 a.m. and the day will conclude
with Mass celebrated by Bishop Carlson at 4 p.m.
Additional information about this year’s Ministry Day,
registration for it and other information will be forthcoming.
Ministry Day is for all priests, principals, teachers, youth
ministers and others involved in parish work and ministry.
The day’s events promise to be valuable to everyone connected
to parish life across the diocese.
While last year’s Ministry Day event was new for the diocese,
organizers and diocesan staff looked at it as something that
could become an annual event for the benefit of everyone across
the diocese.
“We’ve talked about this often,” said Werner.
“What we like about this is here comes everybody under
the same tent with the same personnel.”
Ministry Day is smaller compared to the diocesan Journey to
Holiness events of the past.
“It is an opportunity where people can attend several
different workshops and get up to speed or improve their skills
in different areas that they are involved in,” said chancellor
Jerry Klein.
The goal of the event remains to enhance ministry in the diocese
on all levels.
Speakers and specific workshop topics have not been finalized
yet but the diocesan staff is working to firm up the schedule
and the options that will be offered.
Ministry Day is a good opportunity to bring clergy, staff and
parishioners together and up to date on what is happening and
what is in place for diocesan life. |
