The Sioux Falls Catholic Schools will now be known under a new name, Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools.

Students from 20 different communities attend schools within the Catholic schools system, which was formed in 1991.

“This name change will send a message to students and families from outside of Sioux Falls that we welcome all students interested in a quality, faith-based education,” said Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools president Kyle Groos. “You don’t have to live in Sioux Falls to attend one of our schools.”

Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools includes six elementary schools for grades preschool through sixth, one centralized junior high (grades seven through eight) and one high school (grades nine through 12).

“We also feel this change will enhance our students’ and families’ understanding that they are part of a larger school system,” said Groos.

Approximately 2,600 students from 1,500 families attend the eight schools within the Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools System.
