Seven Benedictine Sisters from Mother of God Monastery, Watertown, will be celebrating their jubilees of profession this summer.

Sister Mona Kirwan, a founding member of Mother of God Monastery, will celebrate her 70th jubilee on July 29. Sister Mona ministered in Catholic health care and later gave spiritual care to the sick and dying for a total of 50 years. In Sister Mona’s “retirement” of 10 years, she serves as the chaplain for the women’s correctional facility in Pierre.

Sister Muriel Spartz, a founding member of Mother of God Monastery, will celebrate her 70th jubilee on July 29. Sister Muriel spent 60 years in the field of education as a teacher, principal, director of religious education and pastoral ministry. She is now retired and resides at the monastery.

Sister Caroline Wolf, a founding member of Mother of God Monastery, will celebrate her 70th jubilee on July 29. She served in various ministries including teaching and working in parishes. She also operated a day care center. Sister Caroline is retired and lives in a local nursing facility.

Sister Adrienne Kaufmann, a founding member of Mother of God Monastery, will celebrate her 60th jubilee on July 29. Throughout her life, Sister Adrienne served as an initiator of new endeavors and peace. For many years, she ministered in vocations and presently she assists in the Liturgy Office of her monastery and teaches part-time at Mount Marty College in Watertown.

Sister Sister Sandra Meek, a founding member of Mother of God Monastery, will celebrate her 60th jubilee on July 29. The three primary ways in which Sister Sandra served God were through health care, leadership in her religious community and in service to the Federation of St. Gertrude. She currently resides in Pierre.

Sister Rose Palm, a founding member of Mother of God Monastery, will celebrate her 60th jubilee on July 29. Sister Rose served for many years in campus ministry, teaching in elementary and secondary education, vocation ministry, spirituality and formation ministry. She is now retired and enjoys canning pickles and caring for the monastery plants.

Sister Marva Jean Hoeckelman will celebrate her 25th jubilee on June 9. In earlier years, she was an elementary school teacher and bookkeeper. Sister Marva currently writes poetry and serves as a monastery archivist.
