Marriage & Family Enrichment

"The mutual consent that husband and wife exchange in Christ, which establishes them as a community of life and love, also has a eucharistic dimension. Indeed, in the theology of Saint Paul, conjugal love is a sacramental sign of Christ's love for his Church, a love culminating in the Cross, the expression of his "marriage" with humanity and at the same time the origin and heart of the Eucharist. For this reason the Church manifests her particular spiritual closeness to all those who have built their family on the sacrament of Matrimony."  ~Pope Benedict XVI

Help for Hurting Marriages

Please know that you are not alone.  Perhaps your marriage is at a point where some outside assistance may be helpful in the healing process.  Here are three recommended resources here in our diocese:

Contact your parish priest for a confidential meeting to help address your marital problems.

Catholic Family Services is available for marriage counseling.

Retrouvaille, a confidential weekend that offers hope and help for a couple to heal and renew their marriage relationship, is available the weekend of February 27-28, March 1, 2015.  Retrouvaille is a peer to peer ministry and has helped couples who experience chronic communication problems, as well as those who thought they were beyond hope, already separated, or even divorced. Please check the the website above for other regions if looking for a different date.  For more information, or to register, contact 988-3755.

Marriage Sponsor Couples

A priest may choose to have a Marriage Sponsor Couple assist him in marriage preparation.  A married couple can be a great resource and blessing to the engaged couple, sharing with them experiences and wisdom from living their own vocation. If you are interested in being a MSC, contact your Pastor or our office.
